how paradise works
Here at Paradise, we focus on writing engaging stories with memorable characters. While there are systems for training and battling, these things are considered secondary to the goal of the RP, which is to create relationships and plots between characters – pokémon included!
The Eden region is yours to explore as you please without needing to adhere to an over-arching plot or progress through the different locations in a certain order. Players are encouraged to collaborate with one another and create their own stories.
Although Paradise is based on the Pokémon series of video games and television shows, it’s otherwise more or less true-to-life. Real-life events, locations, people, et cetera exist in our universe. It’s the world as we know it… just with pokémon!
We look for players who have a firm grasp of all the fundamentals of writing: spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, et cetera. Because of this, we might not be a good match for beginning writers.
Because our aim is to focus on roleplaying, Paradise does not utilize site currency, shops, or inventories. Moreover, our systems for training and battling don’t require any serious number-crunching.
Rather than keeping up with numerical levels, we use a system of four “tiers” to categorize pokémon in terms of strength. See the game mechanics
page for information on tiers.
Trainers battle/capture wild pokémon by creating an encounter thread with a (!) in the title. Once the admin has generated a wild pokémon using the Random Event account, a volunteer
takes over and plays as the pokémon until it is defeated or captured.
The Eden region boasts a wide array of native pokémon. To see which pokémon can be found in the wild, check the Field Guide
. Pokémon that are not native to the region may be obtained as starter pokémon or may be acquired through other methods, such as the Adoption Center, special events, and promos.
