"This spot is perfect!" Aria exclaimed, excitedly. She had been searching for just the right spot for a picnic, something close to the channel but outside of town, and not too wooded. A wide open grassy area nearby had caught her eye, and oh boy was it perfect picnic material. The grass was thick and soft, easily walked on by bare feet that won't get dirty. The gentle flow of the spring channel was calm and soothing, and the crystal-clear waters barely made any noise as they flowed downstream. The hillside wasn't too steep, the treeline provided shade but still allowed plenty of sunshine to peek through the branches, and the wind was just barely a breeze. If Aria believed in heaven, this would be hers.

Her forearm ached, which reminded her she'd been carrying this stupid wicker basket for the past 45 minutes. Tucked under her other arm was a thick, woven blanket, and she still had her supply bag draped over her shoulder. It was about time she found a spot and set everything down. She hustled to the middle of the grassy hillside and practically threw her blanket and bag down, making sure to gently set the basket down since it housed the goodies. "Whew!!" she let out a loud, obnoxious sigh of relief. "Pika pika!" she heard behind her, and she turned to see Arashi a few feet away, laboriously pulling another bag of goodies up the hill. A grin spread across her face and she stepped over to help him. "Thanks little buddy for the help!" she appraised him.

After a good look around, the coast seemed to be clear so she pulled three pokéballs off her belt and tossed them into the grass. A quick flash of light and Kaepora, Auron, and Sakura stood in front of her, their eyes squinting at the bright light. Auron yawned and stretched his legs, Sakura slithered over to Aria, and Kaepora began to preen. "I know I know, I'm sorry you've been cooped up so long! We get the whole day today to relax and stretch our legs!" she said, and heard a chirp from Kaepora. "And our wings." she added, with an eye roll.

She crossed her legs and sat down, in a smooth motion ending in an indian-style position. Sakura brushed along her leg as she slithered by, coming to rest near her feet. Aria reached for the basket and began to lay out the food and ingredients. She had packed everything one needed for sandwiches, potato salad, bread and butter, and cookies for dessert. In the bag housed a few bowls and cups and a container of fresh lemonade. If there were a handbook titled "The Perfect Picnic," Aria must have written it.

Auron trotted over once the aroma of fresh ham and turkey hit the air. She had to block him with her elbow because her hands had a bottle of mayonnaise and a knife in them. "Ah ah!! Back off, you'll get some turkey in a minute." she scolded him, and with the most pathetic puppy whine he could muster, he sat down. Aria placed the knife between her teeth to free up her hand, and she tossed a tiny piece of turkey in the air towards Auron. He caught it in his teeth, swallowed it, and licked his lips. She grinned, wanting to positively reinforce his obedience.

After all was said and done, she had a delicious plate put together for herself, and several other small plates of various pokémon treats, fruit, nuts, and poffins. Now that the food was almost ready, she took a glance around her and realized she was surrounded by pokémon. This made her laugh, but also warmed her heart. She felt like she was part of one big happy family. Kaepora had finished preening himself, and sat perched on the edge of the picnic blanket to her left. Sakura was curled up by her left knee, and Auron was laying down just by her right knee. Arashi, more timid like Kaepora, sat at the other edge of the blanket.

Aria carefully handed out the plates, reminding them all they had to wait until all the plates were handed out before they could dig in. It was tough, but all four of them waited patiently until she gave the okay. Together, her and her pokémon enjoyed their food, their drinks, the breeze, the sunshine, and the lovely sound of the spring channel flowing by. What a day!

The recent days have been just beautiful - sunny, clear and perfectly warm. It wasn't unbearably hot at all, the air felt just right. Amelia could only imagine how many people were enjoying the pleasant weather on the beaches of Hibiscus. As much as she didn't find crowds to be annoying, she still wanted to get away from them. Partially because this gave her the excuse to visit a yet unseen place, such as the Sycamore springs and partially because, well...

"Okay, any chance you could start controlling that? I'm melting!"

The red-haired trainer had only just finished praising the perfect weather in her thoughts and there it went again. The sun, as if in an attempt to get on her nerves, seemed to focus on her, harshly shining onto her slim figure. With one hand by her forehead to put some shade onto her eyes, Amelia was walking across the grassy areas, followed closely by a shiny Vulpix. Shinku yelped apologetically, dragging her six tails heavily behind her. Both of them were getting tired, not only from the long stroll, but also - in the girl's case - because of the intense sunlight that seemed to come and go, and - in the case of the pokemon - the continuous need to control her innate ability, Drought. Being a young, inexperienced fox like she was, Shinku was still learning how to stop herself from randomly changing the weather completely for everyone in her vicinity. For the time being, the heavy-breathing, sweat-covered Amelia was her only victim, mostly thanks to the girl's kind decision of finding a desolate place for their holiday.

The two kept going, with the intention of finding a neat spot, deeper into the springs to avoid the chance of running into more people. But the further they went, the more Amelia wanted to just drop everything and start the "sit and do nothing" part of their day. So when she spotted a pleasant, grassy area right by the springs...

"Alright, Shinku, this will have to do. We'll take a rest here," the girl announced without a tiniest attempt at hiding her relief. She was normally very energetic and active, but feeling the effects of Shinku's Drought every few minutes had surely tired her out. Soon enough, the trainer settled down right by the water's edge, dropping her bag nearby and immediately putting her feet into the spring. Amelia exhaled heavily, happily welcoming this change of pace, but her Vulpix was uneasy. With a tense stance, Shinku clung to her trainer, cautiously peeking out at something.

"What is it? Do you see some- Oh."

The cause of the Vulpix's worries was clear, as it was just some meters away. Another girl, surrounded by pokemon. A sight like that was nothing out of ordinary, but the little one was still getting used to strangers... The shy nature she'd had ever since Amelia got her didn't seem to want to go anywhere. So much for their attempt at finding a place where they wouldn't disturb anyone.

"Hey! Cute pokemon you got there," Amelia wasted no time. The obvious fact had to be pointed out! "Sorry that we're kinda ruining your peace and quiet here. We won't be long!"

[Amelia Irwin of course I don't mind! That's why it's open! ^.^ So glad to have you, thanks for joining!!]

Her pokémon had all but scarfed down their plates of food, with the exception of Sakura, who was still nibbling. Aria had been taking her time finishing hers, enjoying their picnic and the weather. She set down her plate and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, feeling just a little hotter than before. The sun seemed to be beaming down on them all of a sudden, and Aria could feel her skin heating up from the rays of sunshine. She shrugged, remembering it was just before midday, so the sun would be getting higher and hotter. Then, as she reached to pick her plate back up, she noticed Arashi's ears twitching and he stood straight up on his back legs, on high alert.

"What is it?" Aria asked, as if he would ever answer her. As usual, he just stood in place and stared, so she followed the direction of his glance towards the spring. Another trainer had wandered over nearby, dipping their feet in the refreshingly cool water. A little Vulpix stood closely against her, that was so bright in color it seemed to glow under the bright sunshine. Before anyone could really do anything, the trainer saw them and spoke up. She complimented Aria's pokémon and then apologized for ruining their peace and quiet. Aria couldn't help but laugh.

"Oh goodness, no need to apologize! It's such a beautiful day, everyone should be out enjoying it!" she hollered back, and after wiping her hands on her shorts, she stood up. Arashi watched her nervously, but stayed put. The others were too busy licking every last crumb from their plates. She carefully stepped over Auron and into the grass, the thick earthy texture reminding her that she didn't have shoes on. "How is the water?" she asked, hoping the girl didn't mind if she joined her.

The little Vulpix had an apprehensive look on her face, so Aria stayed a good ten feet away to avoid making her feel threatened. "You're a cute little thing!" she said, in a more gentle, higher-pitched tone. "How old is she?" Aria asked, shifting her glance back to the fellow trainer. It was always fun running into other trainers and learning about their pokémon. And Aria was anything but shy, at least when it came to pokémon. She gave them both a smile.

Shinku shivered nervously as the other human started to approach them. In all honesty, she had not even met enough bad people to be afraid of them, but she was still wary. The fact that the other pokemon weren't following their trainer brought her some comfort. The tiny Vulpix breathed in and out slowly, trying to relax.

Amelia remained aware of the pokemon's distress, but she wasn't going to let this stop her from making new friends. Shinku had to get used to other people and pokemon anyway, she believed. The girl waved at the other one invitingly.

"The water's just fine! It looks like my little cutie hasn't boiled it yet," Amelia commented teasingly, taking a glance at the Vulpix. Slightly encouraged by her trainer's usual, humorous approach, Shinku played along and pretended to pout.

Being called a cute little thing wasn't new to Shinku, but she still awkwardly looked down instead of accepting the compliment. Amelia gave the pokemon a comforting pet as she smiled towards the other trainer. "She's only a few months. I think she should be a little bigger by now though, so perhaps she's just going to be generally small. I'd like that."

"The name's Amelia, by the way, and this little one is Shinku."

Aria continued to be careful and approach slowly as to not startle the little Vulpix. "Only four months! Awww!" she replied, really wishing she could pet her but knowing it would be best if she didn't. The little Vulpix was so shy, it didn't even make eye contact with her when she complimented her. Which for some reason, made her even more cute! Aria came to a halt close enough to comfortably carry on a conversation without having to speak up, but far enough away that the Vulpix still felt safe.

"Nice to meet you Amelia! I'm Aria. I'd introduce you to my pokémon, but they-" she trailed off. As she turned to point towards her picnic spot where her pokémon were sitting, she saw Arashi holding a paper plate up in the air as Auron tried to bite it with his teeth. The two had been wrestling and the blanket was bunched up in the mess. Kaepora stood off to the side, ignoring them all and pruning his feathers, and Sakura was fast asleep. Aria shook her head and let out a big sigh. "Well, they are a mess right now, apparently." she finished, and gave her acquaintance a grin.

"What brings you out here? Not... well obviously the nice weather, I meant, are you from here or traveling?" Aria asked, just trying to get a feel for this trainer and what she was up to. Only out of pure curiosity of course. She heard a loud bang noise come from behind her that sounded like the picnic basket lid slamming shut. Whoever was digging in her basket was going to be in serious trouble. Aria rolled her eyes and chose to ignore the commotion going on behind her.

Amelia almost instinctively stood up to offer Aria a handshake, but a disapproving yelp came from Shinku's side, which immediately stopped her. Right, the Vulpix was using her as a cover. All the girl could do in that situation was wave.

Until Aria mentioned her pokemon. Amelia glanced at them as well in that moment, only to notice that they were such a lively bunch! She couldn't resist - the trainer immediately stood up, swiftly taking out her camera from the bag. It was always waiting readily in the outer pocket, for situations like this. A few quick steps towards Aria and, further that way, her pokemon, quickly positioning the camera... And click! She had a shot of the two arguing pokemon.

"There, got it!" she exclaimed proudly, turning back to Aria and Shinku, who was now hiding behind the fort known as "Amelia's bag". The girl cleared her throat. "Ahem. So yes, traveling, mostly. I'm a trainer and well, I also have a blog, which is why I can't just let an opportunity like this pass to get a good picture."

She slowly retreated a few steps towards her original sitting spot, standing somewhere between Aria and Shinku again. "Oh, and the weather?" she whispered, "Shinku has been kind of making it... even warmer. Hope it won't be too much of a bother!"

To Aria's surprise, Amelia was more amused than anything at Aria's wild bunch of pokémon back at her picnic spot. She was glad, she was always worried her pokémon would cause trouble or bother someone, and she never wanted that. For the most part they kept their mischief to each other rather than strangers, and Aria was so very thankful for that. When Amelia quickly pulled out a camera to snap a picture, Aria grinned. It made her happy that her pokémon brought a smile to someone's face.

"A blog?? That's neat!" she responded to the girl's explanation. Turns out her pokémon might bring smiles to many people's faces! She made a mental note to not mention the camera or blog around Kaepora. He was quite vain, and anytime there was a camera or camcorder around he wanted to be in it. Amelia would literally have to fight him off. Aria wanted to invite her to join her, she still had plenty of sandwich fixings and snacks, but she was also worried the poor little Vulpix would be overwhelmed. Maybe Aria could return some of her pokémon...

When Amelia mentioned that the reason the weather seemed more intense at times was because of her Vulpix, Aria was impressed. "Wow! You're doing that?" she joked softly, aimed at the shy little fox. "That's impressive!" she added, giving Amelia a grin. Pokémon were such neat creatures will all sorts of talents. "No no, we're fine! It's not too bad with the cool breeze coming off the channel." she assured her. Another sound came from her picnic area, only this time it was a cry. The two playfully fighting pokémon had stepped on Auron's tail, and being the young dramatic Poochyena he was, he cried out in pain.

"Oh dear. I should get back over there and keep the peace. Would you like to join me?? I have plenty of food still and I can return some of my pokémon so Shinku doesn't feel so overwhelmed?" she asked, offering them both a gentle smile. It was a long shot, but worth offering. She wouldn't be offended in the least if the trainer chose to decline her offer. Aria knew all too well what it was like to have a shy pokémon, and sometimes forcing them into uncomfortable situations didn't go so well.
