Okay. Back to business. It was time to return to the current predicament [more so problem] Simón had on his hands.

Training.

The word made the boy shudder.

But it was the only way to evolve certain pokemon in his collection - wait scratch that - his sister's collection. He internally groaned. The things he has done for that bedridden sibling. But that was exactly why he was doing it for her. She couldn't even open an eye, no more than throw a pokeball at the moment. So that was why big brother Simón was at the prairies, sulking around for any potential wild pokemon for battles.

It wasn't looking too well on his part when a few hours past. The sun was high and it was pretty dry up in the prairies, the grasses mainly the golden hue. There were some green sploshes here and there, but the heat of the summer would soon dry those grasses out. The collector sighed.

Where are the pokemon?

Sniff. Sniff. Sniff. Where the heck did it go?? With his head buried in the tall, dried grasses of the field, Herdier sniffed everywhere. To his right, to his left, a few steps backwards, and a few steps forward. He swore this was the spot, but the bone he had buried was nowhere to be found. Even the earth beneath his paws didn't seem to be disturbed here. He must have gotten turned around, that's all there is to it. He popped his scruffy face out from under the grasses for a moment, gave the air a sniff, and then back down he went.

Oh! There it is! He caught a slight hint of the scent of his bone, and sprung forward. At a brisk trot now, he sniffed his way through the tall grass, now on a mission. The scent was getting stronger, he was headed in the right direction! How on earth did he get so turned around? His nose rarely ever let him down. Something with an unusual scent must have come through here and disrupted the trail he had left for himself, that was the only explanation. It didn't matter now though, he was hot on the trail and the scent was getting stronger.

BAM! His nose had been focused towards the ground sniffing and he didn't see the being in front of him until it literally hit him in the face. He let out a quick little yelp and halted to a stop. After a scramble backwards, he wrinkled his nose and looked up at whatever it was he just ran into. His heart stopped. It was a human!! He had unknowingly ran face-first into the back of their leg. Oh no! he cried, and took another few steps backwards, tangled in the long field grass. He has been lucky enough this far in his life to avoid human interaction. He didn't know how to proceed, this had never happened to him before.

It was as big as a surprise for Simon as well when the Herdier rammed his head against the trainer's calves. It nearly toppled the poor blunet face first, but luckily for Simon, he regained his balance before doing so. He quickly turned on his heels and looked downward to see the canine Pokemon that had caused such an abrupt turn of events in the prairies grasses.

Ah a sparring partner. Finally. But the poor thing wasn't fit at the very moment to battle fairly. The dog was tangled, Simons fairness was over coming his usual route of being an opportunist. The collector didn't want to hurt the poor guy despite it almost knocking him over. He was just as alarm at the sudden encounter too.

So being a good person, he called out his Teddiursa and order a simple Fury swipes at the grasses base. Nia nodded and she easily approached the Herdier with a sweet smile. "Hi! I'm here to help! Don't move too much or I might scratch you!" And without any other hesitation, the bear aimed for the ground, sharp nails swiping at those thick grasses.

The human turned around and looked down on him, and his heart began to race even more. What was going to happen?? The human was probably angry, having a clumsy pokémon just run into his leg. What if he tried to attack him? Would he try to capture him? Send him away? Trade him to some stranger? Herdier had heard all kinds of stories about humans and how they treat their pokémon. He had no idea what he was in store for, but it was going to bad, he just knew it. And he couldn't even run away, his dumb little legs had gotten tangled in the grasses. Oh, this couldn't be any worse.

He watched closely as the human peered down on him, and reached for a pokéball. This was it, he knew it! He was in trouble. He squinted as a light flashed before his eyes. When he blinked, a little bear-cub pokémon stood in front of him. Crap. The human was angry. He wanted to battle. He wanted to attack. He wanted to make him go away. Ugh... Herdier thought to himself, and as the little bear approached. He turned away, wincing and bracing for the first attack. It's not like he could defend himself, all tangled up.

When the attack didn't come, he slowly opened his eyes. I'm here to help! Don't move too much or I might scratch you! the little bear said. Herdier didn't know what to do, was this really happening? Was she really here to help? He did as he was told, and held perfectly still. The bear began swiping at the grass with its tiny razor-sharp claws. Before he knew it, tension around his legs began to release. Bits of grass flew up into the air around him, and his paws slowly lowered back to even ground. It was working! The little bear was actually helping him!

After all was said and done, the two stood facing each other. Thank you! Thank you so much for your help, I was worried I had angered your trainer... he said to the little bear. He gave her a little tail wag before looking up at the trainer. He didn't know how to thank him for his help, so he offered a smile with his panting and a quick little bark. Is there... is there anything I do to thank you? he asked, turning back to the bear. He wasn't sure what a clumsy little dog could do, but he could at least offer. Maybe they needed directions, or some help finding a scent, or...

Now that he was safely freed from the tangled grass, he gave the trainer and his pokémon a bow before trotting off into the fields, nose to the ground once more.

The wild Herdier fled!

(Sorry! I wanted to wait but there are others waiting...)
