Growing up there were two things that Theodore Grimsby's father made clear: 1) If there was any place you were certain to find a Poison type Pokemon it was where there was a high level of pollution or in the most miserable places in nature and 2) if you were going to seek out these Pokemon one had to come prepared. It was because of this advice that Theo was in his current situation. There was a heavy slosh followed by a loud squeak, then another and another. Equip with a pair of rubber waders that went clear up to his chest Theo trudged through the swamp lands of Mangrove Marsh. Fortunately for him the water only really got up to his waist where he was making his way through the murky water. There was a loud squeal that filled the air around him as Ursula zoomed through the water around him. She was always happy to be in the water, truly in her natural element. It often escaped Theo's mind that his Mareanie would be more happy in an all water environment. She was always so happy to trudge along with him wherever he went. It warmed his heart to see his Pokemon having so much fun as she swam around his slow progression in swift circles.

His attention went on to the task at hand. He was out hunting looking for a new addition to his team. Sure his crew had done him fine up to this point but if he wanted to be a Poison master than he needed to start expanding his collection. First on his lit was Skrelp, while he really would have been fine with any poison type it was one of the few he had next to no experience with. From combining his father's notes with local records he was able to piece together where would be best to look. Slowly he worked through the murk, watching the plant life that floated atop the water for signs of movement, a wide grin on his face. Skrelp were well known for trying to blend in with plant life in water like this. Sensing his stillness Ursula came to a stop in her swimming, her small eyes barely visible under her tentacles as the just barely breached the waters surface to watch him.

The sun's rays were just barely peeking through the marsh's tree canopy, but it was enough to provide a little light energy to the world below. Skrelp came up to the water's surface here and there, taking in the warmth of the sunlight. It would be quite some time before he'd have enough energy stored up to evolve, but he'd never get there if he didn't stay on track. Letting the ripples of the water carry him along, he nibbled at this and that, floating along the swamp.

A few strong ripples came through, causing his body to bounce up and down with the small waves. Something was moving in the water up ahead. Thinking quickly, he swam to his left back into a mess of brown leaves floating along. Positioned carefully between the leaves, he hoped to camouflage himself. The ripple strength increased as whatever it was grew closer. Skrelp closed his eyes and held his breath, hoping to appear as lifeless as possible.
