Waiting with bated breath, Jae watched as the watery wall rolled across the arena, obscuring his view of the Mawile. It was only after the water receded did the result of that attack reveal itself.

He… won?

Reality didn't sink in immediately, but the sight of Clazzi stotting and yipping excitedly snapped him back to his senses, and he raced up to the Furfrou and pulled him in for a tight hug. "We did it, Clazzi!" he exclaimed, overwhelmed by the surge of emotions in him. Now that the battle was over, the pressure was off and he could finally breathe easy again.

He looked up to see Merlin the Gallade approaching with a floating pillow, on top of which rested the Grimoire Badge: the proof of his skill as a trainer. "Thank you, Dan," he began, but soon found himself stuttering as he couldn't quite find the right words to express the whirlwind of emotions in him. "That was an intense battle, and truth be told I didn't feel that confident even from the start," he finally managed after a short pause to gather his thoughts. "But there was no turning back once we got started. I've definitely learnt much as a trainer and a person, so once again, thank you, Dan."
