While Su Jin's last visit to the marshlands hadn't exactly gone in her favor, that didn't mean she was going to give up. Bright eyed and bushy tailed she headed to the murky land as soon as the sun began to peak over the distant hills. (Much to Princess' dismay.) While she would have loved nothing more than to have Snuggles out by her side, the sheer amount of mud and water around would certainly make the rock snake nervous. And calling out her elite team seemed rather silly, and the last thing she needed was one of them pulling an ankle or doing something else foolish in the mucky water. Princess, at least for now, was content to sleep the morning away in the safety of her trainer's arms.

The little Nidoran snored lightly, occasionally kicking her legs out or twitching her ears. Su Jin wondered if the little creature was dreaming of running and playing, perhaps in a big open field. In reality, Princess was dreaming of being, well...a princess. She was being fawned over and fanned with massive frond leaves while being fed berries. Princess was an entitled little thing and Su Jin did everything she could to keep the easily irritated poison type happy. And without spoiling her. It was easier said than done considering every time she didn't get her way she put on the puppy dog eyes, something Su Jin had trouble resisting sometimes. She'd gotten enough of that from Peanut when he had been a Swinub begging for just one more chapter before he went to sleep. Though despite her experience, ignoring the pleading eyes altogether was not easy.

The eden elite team member sighed lightly, adjusting the blanket wrapped Nidoran in her arms. Princess let out a small squeak but was otherwise not roused from her sleep. Eventually after walking through the murky waters, that thankfully were only about six inches deep, for what felt like forever she stumbled across a patch of dirt that actually looked solid enough to sit on. Su Jin plopped herself right down, situating her snoozing Pokemon in her lap. Even if they didn't find what they were looking for, at least they could watch all the creatures of the marsh wake up. The world was beautiful when it was the most untouched, and there was not a thing in the world that could rival the awakening of mother nature.

It was early morning, and all the old wooper knew was that he was late in getting breakfast. So late, in fact, that the younger woopers were trying to ride his coattails to reach all the best places! Well, he wasn't going to have that. He hadn't gotten this far in life by sharing with just anyone, after all! No, he had survived by being wily for his small size. So the wooper turned around and yawned in their faces. That would show those whippersnappers. Put them out right quick, and the wooper went on his way, not even realizing he'd gone and turned himself around.

When he got to a more shallow area of the marsh, he was certain he'd reached where he needed to go, picking up in speed. However, when he found what he'd been sure was the shallow spot with the berry bush on it, he peeked up to see ... a human? That wasn't right. Or edible. The wooper squinted up at them, before circling around to see if there was anything better in view. Nope. Nope. He circled back up to the front of the human, squinting at them again.

Sometimes humans had food with them. He knew that from somewhere, but it was a distant memory.

The wooper scrambled up to boldly encroach on the place where the human was sitting, glancing down at the nidoran and then back up to the human. The question was, how to ask. With no arms to pantomime, he decided to open his mouth wide at the human and wait to see if she got the hint. If not, he'd have to try something else. Or leave. There was only so much time in the day, after all.

Princess was finally rousing from her sleep, agitated once again by the stenches of the murky swamp. The Nidoran's nose twitched; scrunching up in disgust as she opened one eye to look around. Nope. Not a horrible nightmare, it was a horrible reality. She let out a growl of protest, large ears flattening against her head. Princess squirmed and squirmed, trying to burrow farther into her blanket. She had fallen asleep on her nice soft bed with her blanket and toys; and somehow woken up here of all places. It was unpleasant to say the least. She was being treated like some common peasant instead of the royalty she was! Su Jin smiled weakly and pulled the blanket a little tighter over her annoying friend.

The sound of splashing water made them both jump slightly. Su Jin looked up, wide eyed with a sparkle. While Princess looked out across the brown water with disdain and disgust. Filthy creatures. She would stay where she was safe, surrounded by her soft blanket and in the tight arms of her trainer. Princess hadn't fully warmed up to Su Jin yet, however the trainer provided her with everything she needed. Even if she attempted to take her on disgusting adventures.

Su Jin's warm gaze fell upon the Wooper standing before her, ripples of water spreading away from his adorable little self. She stared at him for a few moments, brow furrowed. Was he...hungry? Su Jin's last encounter in the swamp had met her with an inquisitive and hungry Barboach who she had regrettably not captured. He had seemed interested in the sugar coated strawberries she had brought for Princess. So this time, in the off chance she saw him again, Su Jin had made sure to bring extras. She shifted the Nidoran in her arms, receiving a low growl in response, and began sifting through her bag with one hand.

She pulled out a small tupperware and carefully pried off the lid, pulling out a few strawberry slices. In the sun light they glittered as if covered in diamonds, deep red and inviting. She held them out to the Wooper so he could just nibble them out of her hand if he wanted.

The wooper noticed the nidoran turning her nose up to everything and whining. He ignored her. Poor little princess, he thought without sympathy. She'd probably never had to scrape or forage for anything in her life, as far as he could tell. He didn't pity her rude awakening to his home. It was hard for him to imagine any other kind of life than the only one he'd known, but the old curmudgeon was sure it'd been easier just looking at her.

The wooper did manage to hop from foot to foot once or twice to convey his enthusiasm when the nidoran's human responded to his begging. Sure, it gave a little splash here and there, but surely the human wouldn't mind if she'd walked all the way there. As soon as he could smell the treat, he knew it would taste better than whatever he would've found at the bank. The ground type eagerly moved on forward and ate readily from the human's hand, just as if he was some tame thing. He could be nice, if that was all it took for the human to share food with him.

Better that than foraging for himself when he was already probably going to be late to the berry bushes he knew of.

He'd gulped the first strawberry down so fast he'd hardly tasted it, usually more interested in grabbing the nutrients and running, but once the flavor caught up with him the wooper's eyes were all a'sparkle. In the next grab for food he was a lot more tender, in hopes that the human wouldn't shy her fingers away from his open mouth, gingerly pulling the next slice into his mouth and pausing to actually savor the taste for once.

Princess' nose began twitching; scrunching; wiggling every which way. Berries. Her berries. Her eyes snapped open and she squirmed against Su Jin's arm, attempting so see what exactly was going on. Su Jin merely tightened her one arm around the Nidoran and made a gentle humming sound in an attempt to soothe her. The small poison Pokemon didn't seem to be having it however, craning her neck as far as she could just in time to see the little blue thing eat some of the beautifully sugar coated berries her trainer made.

Su Jin kept a firm arm around the Nidoran as the Wooper ate, attempting to keep her other arm as still as possible in fear of scaring him off. As he nibbled out of her hand, she couldn't help but giggle lightly. It was a soft sound like a song bird's sweet spring tune, light as small silver bells chiming. When he finished the last bit she withdrew her hand and grabbed Princess' pokeball from her bag, quickly recalling her after a promise she could have all the berries she wanted later. She was met with a huff just before the small pale blue Pokemon disappeared.

The ground type trainer returned her attention to the Wooper, smiling brightly; paying no mind to the bits of murky water he had splashed onto her legs. Her choice of Pokemon typing and former occupation made her no stranger to getting dirty. She felt at one with nature, and being covered in, well, nature didn't do a thing to lessen her mood.

"Aren't you just the cutest," she laughed a bit more boisterous this time, an infectious grin spreading across her face. "Would you like some more? I have plenty." She pulled out some more slices, offering her hand. While Su Jin didn't have a lot of experience as a cook or a baker, she was proud to say she had a green thumb. She kept a small garden outside her house where she grew all sorts of berries and other fruits. She hadn't much experience with wild berries of the forest such as oran or pechas, but she figured one day she'd give it a shot.

One thing she hadn't lost despite no longer actively serving as a ranger was her love of being out in the field, so to speak. While she didn't mind being inside there was nothing like the fresh air. Even her battle field at the Pokemon league was as outdoorsy as she was permitted, a bed of grass and dirt surrounded by specially cultivated trees that were able to stay alive inside. She didn't like the dirty and dusty battlefield that had been there before her arrival. It had been bland, a tough slate floor with a few boulders placed around. While from a strategic point it may have been better but it was boring, something Su Jin refused to be. Getting Fluffy acclimated to the forest like battle arena had been proving to be a problem, though practicing there daily and playing with him among the grass had been helping him out considerably.

"Have you ever had blueberries?" She asked, without waiting for any sort of reaction she pulled out another container. She'd brought these along for herself, though she was happy to share with her new friend. She scooped out a handful and offered her hand once again.

The little poison type seemed to be just about throwing a tantrum, not that the wooper was surprised. Nope, not one bit. He didn't lift even a figurative finger to do anything one way or the other about the poison type. In fact, he didn't even stare blankly at it, his focus all on the human as she handled the poison type as best as she could. He figured it was none of his business what some human raised pokemon did or didn't do, as long as he still got fed.

While the old wooper was taking his sweet time tasting the sugary foods, the human withdrew the pokemon, and it seemed like he had this sweet human all to himself. Once he was called cute, he smiled and opened his mouth again, because surely that meant he'd get more food. Just like that, any guard the old pokemon might have pretended to have had was down. This human fed him, and so he liked her. As if she'd read his mind, she asked if he would like some more.

He'd never seen what she'd called blueberries before, but he was happy to inch up closer to the woman's hand and eat straight out of it. With this, it was hard to be polite. The best he could do was awkwardly go for a mouthful of some of the stuff, and then for a second nip at the little ones that seemed ready to try to fall off the side. When the wooper rocked back onto his feet, He pressed his tongue and tasted what seemed to be an explosion of flavor all across his mouth, although it was much softer than the red ones he had tried just before.

Why, this was more food than he'd had in one sitting that he could remember. That didn't stop him from opening his mouth again, though. After all, one never knew where their next meal would come from, and it'd be unwise to count on that being anytime soon. He would keep eating until the pokemon trainer stopped offering.

Su Jin found it refreshing to find someone to share her fruits with. While Princess loved strawberries, and I mean really loved strawberries, she was very particular when it came to other fruits. Blueberries had to be tended to carefully; and if she got one that was even the slightest bit bitter she'd spit it right back up. Su Jin had ended up with blueberry stains all around until she decided to just make sure she was always well stocked in strawberries. Which included running to the grocery store frequently when they were out of season in Eden. She was thankful the local store imported them from other regions. However this little Wooper seemed perfectly happy to accept what offerings she was able to produce.

"I see you like them too!" A large grin spread across her pale lips. She withdrew her hand, noticing she had run out of berries. "Hmm, looks like I've run out. I'm sorry." She frowned, bottom look protruding slightly. "Had I known I would have met you I would have brought more." She pulled her bag into her lap, sorting through the contents while humming lightly. Maybe she had something else to offer the little guy. She could have easily gotten up and picked some local berries; however she figured that was something he ate often.

"Aha!" She laughed lightly, pulling out a rectangular snack covered in shiny green foil. The wrapper crinkled as she opened it. It was a granola bar with dried berries baked right in, something Su Jin found to be an easy on the go snack with her generally busy lifestyle. She held it out to him so he could bite off the end if he was interested. She was curious to see how he liked the crunchy bar as it was so different from the juicy berries he'd already had. "Be careful, little guy. It's a bit more solid than the berries." Her eyes were bright and alive as she stared down at the small blue Pokemon, his eagerness and lack of fear was endearing and she felt a connection to him already.

The old wooper let his mouth close when the woman announced she was out of berries, satisfied with what he'd managed to take from her. He was beyond full now, and would probably be fine for the rest of the day if he needed to be. Yes indeed, the curmudgeon was thrilled with his ability to glean just about everything he possibly could have from the strange and giving human. And she was saying she'd have brought even more if she'd known he would be there. Well, that left him feeling pretty special for a happenstance encounter that wouldn't have even occurred if he hadn't gotten himself turned all around.

Still, he would've left at that, but then the human started making a beautiful noise that made him pause. It was different than most of the noise he'd heard in his long life, in stark contrast to the music made by the ludicolo and their offspring. The wily wooper allowed himself to rest a bit heavier on his feet for more than just food, not quite compelled to run away from such a giving human if she could make beautiful noise such as that.

Then she made an exclamation that left him blinking as he heard a crinkling noise. Before he knew it, the wooper was being presented with even more food than he had already. He was full, but that didn't keep him from inching up towards the food even with the human's warning. He bit into the granola ... or, well, he tried to. He crunched into it, but wasn't quite able to bite straight through or take it from the human, instead trying to leverage the weight of her holding it to break it. Some flakes broke off in his mouth, and they were tasty, but he stubbornly refused to give in. No, no, now it was a matter of principle, and he had to break it on his own teeth if he could. He was more used to using them for gripping than any kind of tearing or breaking down, however, so it would definitely be hard for him to do on his own.

She frowned lightly, she hadn't anticipated his inability to bite off a piece. While they were definitely crunchy she found that they broke pretty easily. Generally they'd end up in pieces at the bottom of her purse bound to explode into a flurry of granola bits when she opened them. She hummed again, trying to think of what to do. She supposed she could have easily reached down and snapped a piece off for him, however he seemed pretty determined to do it on his own. She wasn't really sure how to go about assisting him without truly assisting him.

"Oh, I have an idea. I'm going to hold it really tight," she tightened her grip on the granola bar to make sure it didn't fall into the water. "Now you shake your head back and forth, real quick like." She demonstrated shaking her own head back and forth almost like a dog tugging on a bone. "I think that should help loosen it up enough that you can bite right through it!" She smiled, he was a tenacious little guy; he was more than just brave and Su Jin couldn't help but smile around him. "Come on Tiny, you can do it!"

And like with the Barboach she'd met before she ended up naming him. Which in her last excursion had ended up being a bad idea as he swam away before she could catch him. She wasn't going to let Tiny get away. She wanted someone she could share her berries and snacks with; and he was just too plain cute!

Luckily for the wooper, the lady had an idea. Her grip tightened, and when he looked up at her, he mimicked as best as he could. It turned out the old dog could, in fact, learn new tricks, and the granola crumbled even more in his mouth. That, combined with the extra leverage he was able to purchase against the human's tight grip, and the little piece snapped off without a problem to the sound of himself being cheered on. The ground type cheered a bit on his own behalf while he chomped away, beyond satisfied with the results.

It was only then that he realized that he'd been called by a name other than his species, and the wooper blinked his eyes up at her again. 'Tiny' was strange to him because while he was very small, he felt bigger as an elder even to some quagsire in the marsh. He was close now and still wasn't worried that the human was within reach to pet him. It meant little when she didn't seem the type to try to do anything dastardly. His thoughts took him a bit further than even that, finally considering that perhaps this human would be willing to take him home and care for him like she had the nidoran. He just had to play his cards right.

Since he was already in range, the wooper made to touch the top of his head against the girl's hand, hoping for pets to his slimy exterior as he vaguely thought he might have remembered seeing a human do once or twice with their companions. There. Surely showing interest in her over her food was the right move, even though he actually wasn't hungry at all any longer.

Su Jin's gaze widened in surprise as the little Wooper raised his head to brush against the underside of her hand. She withdrew slightly, considering in her mind exactly how to react. She wanted to pet him, boy did she want to pet him. (She totally wanted to hug him too.) However she didn't want to move too fast in fear of scaring him off. The last thing she wanted to do was miss out on catching another Pokemon because she did something foolish. Gingerly she returned her hand to the top of his head, brushing it lightly with her fingers. His skin was surprisingly smooth, much unlike Princess' rigid coat and he felt a lot like Bubbles if she was to compare him to anyone.

She felt a large smile tugging at her pale lips, "You are just the cutest, aren't you?" She laughed again, like birds singing on a spring day; cheerful and bright. Her eyes were a lit with eagerness and hope for the future. "You wouldn't want to come with me, would you Tiny?" She paused lightly, "It'd be nice to have someone to share my berries with. You don't seem nearly as fickle as Princess." It would also be nice to have another Pokemon that was small enough to hold and spoil as well. She loved her bigger Pokemon but sometimes she just wanted to pick them up and give them a big hug, which wasn't possible. Snuggles was...snuggly, but he was also big. And made of rocks. Princess wasn't big on the whole affection thing unless she was in the mood.

"I'd really love it if you joined me." She hoped she could persuade the little guy to come home with her. She could promise him the best life she could provide.

The wooper wasn't sure he'd ever been considered the cutest before, but he wouldn't mind being treated like this at all. The human was gentle and soft, and her energy was contagious, leaving even him and his old bones feeling spry as anything. He opened his small little eyes to look up at her face when she extended her invitation, and he couldn't help but grin. He knew she couldn't understand him, but he really did want to go with her. The water type paused, thinking, before nodding his head somewhat, as he didn't have arms to enunciate and it was really all he had to work with to communicate what he was hoping for.

After all, he wasn't at all inclined to stay where he'd have to forage every day and compete for food to survive if he didn't need to. He wasn't quite sure what he'd have to do, but it'd have to be better than the living he was currently eking out. If he had a chance of being as pampered as that other pokemon, he'd have to take it.

Su Jin felt like she had stopped breathing for a moment. She was a bundle of nerves after presenting the Wooper with the invitation and it felt like years before he responded. Was that a nod? It was. She let out a sigh of relief, a noticeable relaxation in her formerly rigid shoulders. She knew Princess wasn't going to be a fan of the newest member of their little band, but the Nidoran was just going to have to get used to it. She knew most of her other Pokemon would welcome the little water type eagerly. Bubbles would be more than thrilled at the prospect of another water type as that meant he had a swimming buddy. Peanut didn't mind the water but he mostly just found a shallow section and took a nap. Lugging around that much weight seemed to take it's toll on the Mamoswine's joints and the water was soothing.

Su Jin grabbed her pack again, shoving a hand inside and feeling around. She knew she had to have a spare pokeball somewhere, right? If she had gone through all this and not brought any it would be a truly heartbreaking day for her. She had missed out on that Barboach, she was not going to miss out on him! Eventually her narrow fingers clasped around the ball and she pulled it out, letting it rest in the palm of her hand.

Slowly she extended her hand toward the Wooper, a smile growing across her lips as she got nearer and nearer. Once close to him the pokeball enlarged. Normally she'd have thrown it but his eagerness to join her meant she didn't need to fire it off at him. "Go on, touch it." Her voice was soft and soothing, barely above a whisper as she successfully contained her excitement.

The old wooper noticed the trainer visibly relax, and it was at that point that he realized that the trainer seemed to truly want him by her side. Beady eyes blinked up at her, before he smiled with his mouth closed. If he would be even mostly welcome, that would be a nice change - not that he'd always admit it.

When the pokeball was presented to him, he didn't waste any daylight. Even without arms, he tilted hsi head to listen to her and then leaned in to press his forehead against the pokeball. The human impliment broke upen, sucking him inside. It was a startling, new feeling, but the wooper didn't resist. In no time at all, it held fast with a 'click.'

Congratulations! Wild Wooper has been caught!
