Oh, the Amaranth Forest is lovely this time of year, they had said. You'll love it, they had said. All it proved was that they didn't know the first thing about Verity. The woman took her steps carefully in the wilderness of a forest, doing her best to enjoy herself. Her best wasn't quite enough, however, when applied to this venture. All Verity could think about was work, and training, and the fact that she was doing neither.

If she was lucky, however, she would come across a healthy purple pokemon that was native here. None of the specimens in her database had been particularly suitable. It wasn't that they weren't healthy and strong on their own, per se, but they just weren't enough for her, because if she was going to represent nightshade or protect herself, she would need the very best. The woman inhaled once, glancing around. Tyrian was walking beside her with the same amount of disdain, the eevee clearly aware of his worth in that he deserved better than some hike through the woods. Liseran, on the other hand, shot ahead, moving back just as quickly, his nose close to the ground. What the fennekin could hope to catch the scent of, Verity wasn't sure but didn't particularly care. What she did know, however, was that if anything came across her path that wasn't what she was looking for, she would make it useful as part of the training regimen for Tyrian. After all, she'd read multiple times now in her research that battling together was a good way for pokemon and trainer to bond. Perhaps that was all she needed to evolve Tyrian correctly, provided she stuck to the daylight hours.

Up in a branch, on this beautiful sunny day, a little Spewpa was greedily sunbathing and simply enjoying the bounty that the forest had to offer. The Amaranth Forest was very relaxing for Pokemon like him. There weren't that many predators, and food would always be available in every nook and granny that he went...

If anyone saw this Spewpa, they could say he had a full life.

But what they couldn't see, was it's loneliness. It wanted someone to love, a partner with which to have a family. Spewpa sighed, the hole in his heart growing wider with each passing day. Who would've known that alas, a female specimen would be able to fill his heart, and it wasn't even someone of the same species!

The blue hair, the soft features, and those eyes... they were magnificent! As soon as the Spewpa, spotted the female human, he knew it in his heart of hearts, that they were meant to be!

It jumped and hoped to land on her head, face, or wherever fate decided.

If possible, the Spewpa wanted to land on her heart.

Verity had just been walking along when something fell on her shoulder, calling out more from shock than any recognized pain as she immediately reacted by trying to swipe whatever had dared to land on her away. "Tyrian! Liseran!" She hissed, and both rounded up against the bug, Tyrian standing between him and Verity while Liseran was rushing back from where he'd gone off to. Pain was starting to register in her shoulder, but it wasn't anything she wouldn't get over.

Still, the woman was angry. This thing wasn't purple. It was useless to her.

"Attack." The eevee glanced at the fennekin as Liseran spat a ball of fire at the bug, turning to sniffle and cry at the opponent, crocodile tears flowing as he pawed as if to clear them. Verity frowned, unsure of what was happening.

Liseran used Ember!
Tyrian used Fake Tears!

This was the first time... the Spewpa had ever felt this way.

It was as if time slowed down to allow the Scatterdust Pokémon a few more moments to relish these joyous meeting. He could see it now, his future flashing before his eyes. They would be so happy together, eating in the fields, playing around, chasing each other. Then, after marriage, the Spewpa would go to work while his lucky woman would take care of the hundreds of Scatterbugs they had as children.

The Spewpa's daydream was cut short as a hand swatted him away from his target. He bounced and rolled a few feet away. What just happened, he asked himself. Blinking a few times, he stood up and glanced around. He was pretty sure the woman was right in front of him, and no way he'd let her out of his sight.

All at once, the Spewpa suddenly felt weak and small balls of fire were hot in his trail. He closed his eyes and summoned a protective barrier, ignoring the effects of Fake Tears and the damage from Ember.

The woman was just a few meters away from him, and he jumped in joy, attempting to get her
attention.

Spewpa used Protect!
It protected itself from Ember and Fake Tears.

Verity frowned when the Spewpa used protect, but that was something that happened. There was no need to let it interrupt her focus. "Again." The woman said coldly. Liseran was quick to spout another ember at the spewpa, forming the ball of fire in front of his mouth before launching it at the enamored caccoon. The fox wasn't quite sure why the eevee was even around; he could handle this.

Tyrian paused, watching Liseran fight. He didn't have anything like that that wouldn't also hurt Liseran, and so he tried to rush the spewpa after the ember would hit, rushing in to latch on with his teeth and hurt it almost as much as the fire type attack would. He needed to prove himself to Verity, after all.

Verity didn't particularly pay attention to what happened next, trying to brush off the debris from where the Spewpa had fallen on her. This was why she didn't go traipsing through the wild instead of working. So disgusting. She should have just stayed at home instead.

Liseran used Ember!
Tyrian used Bite!

In the Spewpa's eyes, there was no other room for anyone but the human woman. Never had he seen such a beautiful creature. But it seemed as if there those envious for their love. The woman seemed unaffected by his charm. It never registered in his mind that this woman might not love him back, and that he was being savagely attack by her minions.

Once the Spewpa's barrier went down, he blinked a few times, to see if what he was seeing was correct. He dodged another Ember by a milometer, but could not dodge the mouth of an Eevee striking for a bite. The pain coursing in his body was enough to make it squirm, and in it's defiance to the pain, the bug type could not help but release a Stun Spore to make it all stop.

Spewpa dodged Ember! [1/3]
Spewpa was hit by Bite!
It used Stun Spore against assailant Eevee.

Tyrian cringed the moment he inhaled the spores, coughing even as it filled his lunges with more of the stuff, his legs starting to shake and stiffen. It hurt, and it felt more and more like he couldn't move. The eevee didn't understand, and the pain brought him to the verge of tears. Liseran's ears flattened at the sight, and he took a step back, deciding to make a point of keeping his distance.

Verity frowned. Of course, she shouldn't have expected better from either fox. Neither of them were purple, so it made sense that they'd be more difficult to work with. The woman looked at the oversized bug, feeling more pain than she'd like when she tried to adjust her shoulder. For a moment, she almost considered that she might have to get it checked out, but she decided against it. That would take time away from her work.

"Attack again."

Tyrian tried, he did, but the eevee stumbled and collapsed not far at all from the bug with a whimper. Liseran, on the other hand, had no problem inhaling and shooting out yet another spark of fire. He had no intention of letting Verity down.

Tyrian was paralyzed! Tyrian couldn't move!
Liseran used Ember!

Things were looking... not so good.

In fact, the Spewpa's heart was starting to waver. He didn't want to hurt anyone, but he didn't want to stay single for the rest of his life. The fire in his soul, though dying, started to flourish as it remembered the love it had for the woman. He did not care if he didn't know her name. Just to be with her was enough.

So he'd go with the intention of being capture. If memory served right, trainers like her were always look for strong Pokemon. So he'd show her just how tough he could. The Fennekin's Ember was about to hit him, so he jumped out of the way and went in for a tackle at the fire fox.

Spewpa dodged Ember! [2/3]
It used Tackle against Fennekin.

Verity glanced from her fennekin to her eevee. Tyrian hadn't been able to even attack last time, and each and every one of Liseran's attacks had failed. A shame. She really needed them to get stronger soon. Liseran was panting, and Tyrian was shivering under the effects of the spore attack from the bug. She didn't blink as the fennekin was hit with the bug's lurch forward. "Tyrian, uh, quick attack to close the distance. Liseran, hit back with flame charge."

Perhaps, the Nightshade was hoping, more direct orders would guide the two of them to victory. Truly, they had the advantage in numbers. It shouldn't be this hard. Liseran shook himself off from the spewpa's attack, flames enveloping him before he charged the bug from the front. Tyrian watched the fennekin's valiant effort, launching forward the moment he was able to summon his strength in an attempt to attack the bug from behind.

These fools standing in between him and love would know the meaning of suffering!

The Spewpa's newfound resolve would be tested, indeed. It was a two-versus-one battle, one that was hardly in favor of his kind. The Eevee and Fennekin seemed to be as fired up and relentless as he was. The Spewpa had a thought... perhaps they were rivals in love for this woman?

Like hell he was going to give up!

His tackle had been successful on the fiery fox and had jumped back ready to spring in action again. Just then, he saw the Eevee rush towards him in Quick Attack while the fox enveloped itself in fire for a Flame Charge. It was time to let this quadrupeds who was on top of the food chain!

As they approached, the Spewpa put up a barrier of blue energy around it for protection.

Spewpa used Protect.
It protected itself against harm!

Verity sighed as the spewpa protected itself, effectively blocking the attack of both of her pokemon at once, making her watch the both of them crash headlong against the blue shield. That nasty bug couldn't last forever, but neither could the pokemon she was using, who were only just learning how to fight in the first place. Even working together, this was taking long enough.

They needed some new strategy, but she wasn't sure what it was.

"Liseran, attack again. Tyrian, use refresh." The eevee focused his energy, shutting his eyes tightly as a white energy washed over him, relieving him of the status affliction for the moment. Liseran, on the other hand, hopped back and fired off another ember at the stronger bug type.

The Spewpa was losing it. The attacks were relentlessly coming in with the intent on making him accept defeat. He witnessed the eevee cure itself of his paralysis, while that happened, the Fennekin attacked him with another spit of it's fiery embers. As the fires approached, all he could think of was why were there so many people against his love.

Was it so wrong to love someone and get that love in return?

The ember hit Spewpa, who recoiled back from the heat, but he wasn't done yet. Retaliation from the bug type came in another set of yellowish spores, where contact would paralyze anyone.

Spewpa is hit by Ember!
It uses Stun Spore against Fennekin!

Verity paused. The fennekin's attack seemed to be making more of a difference than all of Tyrian's attempts combined. Perhaps they'd have a better chance at taking down the bug if Liseran stopped having to worry about hitting Tyrian. "Tyrian, come back." Not having to be told twice, the eevee bolted back to his trainer's side.

Liseran did not attack outright, ears pinning back as he brought up a magical shield in front of himself, hoping to send the spores drifting back in a magic bounce or at least deflect the status attack. He'd seen what Tyrian had had to deal with, and he wasn't at all interested in that if he could help it.

Verity frowned, unsure why the fox wasn't attacking, but she waited to see what happened. Perhaps Liseran had a reason for behaving the way he was.

One less hurdle to overcome. Then they'd be together.

Unfortunately, the Spewpa was not expecting the little fire fox to deflect back his Stun Spore. The surprise made him unable to evade the attack, and got a waft of what he inflicted to the little eevee earlier on. His muscles tensed as the spores entered his nervous system, and fell on the ground unable to move.

If there was silver-lining to this, the view of the love of his life was even better sideways...

Spewpa was affected by Stun Spore!
It was paralyzed and unable to move!
